IRS Says It's Easing Up on Liens

It's obvious from the big jump in the number of TV commercials that offer help with IRS problems, combined with what is reputed to be the most complex tax system in the world, and increasing tax rates along with decreasing income, that more and more Americans are running into trouble on their taxes.

Just how bad is it? The Washington Post says that

Since 1999, the IRS has increased annual lien filings by 550 percent, from 168,000 to last year's 1.1 million.

These people face homelessness, unemployability and the inability to obtain car insurance and credit cards at normal rates.
