High Fructose Corn Syrup Getting New Name

Consumption of high fructose corn syrup is at a 20-year low. People are staying away from this ubiquitous product in droves, particularly since it may be made from GMO corn. The spin doctors have a solution: rename it "corn sugar" to clear up consumer "confusion."

About 58 percent of Americans say they are concerned that HFCS poses a health risk. The Corn Refiners Association, representing the companies that make the syrup, is petitioning the FDA for the name change so that the public doesn't realize what they're buying. Many food scientists are going along with this plan to bamboozle the public.
