Hawaii Political Info introduction: Author Edward Jay Epstein talks about his book, Dossier: The Secret Life of Armand Hammer, published by Random House. Hammer was the chairman of Occidental Petroleum and had extensive and lucrative dealings with Russia and the U.S. from right after its revolution through many decades later. Hammer was born in New York City to Ukrainian Jewish immigrants. His father was a medical doctor.

Hammer's life illuminates the close relationship the U.S. had to the USSR and how Hammer's amorality enabled him to gain advantage for his businesses by manipulating relationships with governments, much like such relationships are conducted today.
