Kahuku Windmills Report

Hawaiian Electric Co., First Wind, state, local and community leaders gathered on March 24, 2011 at the Oahu North Shore windmill project for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 30 MW project eyesore was touted as being environmentally friendly, yet with the capacity to generate enough renewable energy to power up to 7,700 Oahu homes each year.

Panos Prevedouros, civil and environmental engineering professor at the University of Hawaii-Manoa and former Honolulu mayoral candidate, visits the Kahuku windmills a month later and records what he sees on video for us.
